iCloud Sync Symbol

I only use iCloud Drive .

Why do I see the iCloud Sync Symbol if no action ware made in that folder / File ?

It's always there and I have more like this in other folders ...

How can I "Accelerate" all iCloud syncing ?

Thanks.

Hi there, rony-z! Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are questioning the icons you see in iCloud Drive. We would love to help. When you see a cloud icon (without a down arrow, slashes through it or anything else), it indicates that there is a file that is stored only in iCloud and not on your device.

You can find out more about this and other iCloud icons here:

Please let us know if you have follow-up questions about this. Have a great day!

Thanks for getting back with us about this, rony-z. We definitely want to make sure to clear up any confusion. The folder itself, even if it contains no content, was synced and would be available for edits/viewing. When you add content, that too will be synced the next time and available.

Do you use Optimized Storage with your Mac? If so, that may be affecting the presence of those icons. Learn more about that here: Optimize storage space on your Mac. Please let us know if you are using this and we can investigate further.

Thanks and have a good day.

Well : ...

  1. Adding a test file to one of the empty folders : A new folder and file added , A cloud sync sign appear with the New folder and file, after 1 second the sign cloud disappear as it should be !
  2. Delete and recreate the folder : Nothing happened to the cloud sign.

In all these tests , everything was fine with my actions But the iCloud Sync Symbol / sign keep staying.

Thanks.

I don’t use Optimized Storage !

I don’t understand why a few files/folders have that cloud sigh as I don’t use at the moment these files/ folders

98% of my folders and files are ok - without the cloud sign.

further more, other new or edited files and folders syncing OK like it should be when using iCloud Drive

my conclusion is maybe a BUG ...

thanks.

Okay, thanks rony-z. It doesn't sound like there is an issue, as long as the folders are opening and able to have files saved to them as expected. Let's test a couple of things. If possible, can you delete and recreate the folder to see if this changes the icon's presence? Also, try adding a test file to one of the empty folders and see if that changes anything.

We'll wait to hear back from you! Take care.
