Cannot download Catalina from Apple

I have upgraded my old iMac 2015 to the latest Big Sur OS, however, I thought the new OS run not that smoothly as the old 10.15.x system. So I want to download the old OS like Catalina and reinstall it.

I followed this doc <How to get old versions of macOS> .

When I click the link to download the Catalina OS, the https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-catalina/id1466841314?mt=12 show me one empty page. I check the browser developer console and it said one 404 error like this:

I cannot download Mojave, High sierra as well.

Have you ever meet this issue?

Try searching for “macOS Catalina” on the Mac App Store. I believe the link on the website is supposed to redirect you to the App Store anyway.

How to get old versions of macOS and be sure to use Safari in links in next page as Others May Not work. Safari should open a Redirect and then Open Apple Apps Store to download the desired version of macOS.

OR

Revert your Mac to a previous macOS version

The computer being used to download Catalina - was it ( Computer ) received with Big Sur installed as new ? If that is the case - you can not download an Older Version of macOS that what it came with ( Big Sur ).

I guess so

But I think Apple should let us download the older OS whenever we need it. After OS upgraded, we always found the new OS may not work perfectly with the old hardware. So when we want back, we should be able to go back.

Searched in Mac App Store and there is no Catalina OS.

Yes, I opened the link with Safari and there is no redirect happen.

I am using the Big Sur OS and I cannot find macOS Catalina from the App Store. Are you using the Big Sur system too?

To Reconfirm - you are attempting to download from a iMac 2015 which was upgraded to Big Sur. Are you using Safari to attempt the download of Catalina. Other browsers may not work
