Dialing "1" on an iPhone

I contacts there is no "1" in the number and it dials fine, but when dial using Siri, it won't go through.

Does "1" need to be in each contact?

Hi there, danfromwildwood! Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are looking for some clarity on placing calls using Siri. We know that’s a handy feature and we'd love to help. Let’s start by reviewing this article: Make a call on iPhone. While it is not necessary to add a 1 before the area code, you may have to speak the number aloud if there is no Contact in your iPhone for the person you are wanting to call.

If you are following the steps in the provided article and it still doesn’t work, please let us know what errors (if any) you get when you try to make a call with Siri and if it occurs with all numbers or just some. Thanks and have a great day!
