Start by deleting the AOL account, restarting your phone, and adding it back. If you have 2 factor authentication on your AOL account you will need to generate an application specific password to use the built in mail app. Alternatively, download the AOL Mail app from the App Store, which can use your regular password and 2 factor authentication.
