How to clean lint out of iPhone charging port

When I try to find info on how to safely clean the charging port on my iPhone (6s), I keep being directed to Cleaning your iPhone by the Support folks, which doesn't deal with my specific question. So how do I safely clean out the charging port? Is denatured alcohol safe to use? Compressed air? I just had the battery caged last month. It was accepting the charger until a few days ago, so I guess there's no connection. One would hope, thought, they cleaned out the port when they changed the battery. False hope, I guess.
