I have an iPad Pro 2020 which will not recognize my rode NT usb microphone. I have tried a powered usb connection when connecting Rode to iPad but sill does not work.

Power light is on Rode NT USB, but I can’t my voice on the headphones when I speak into rode microphone.

how can I get iPad to recognize Rode NT USB mic? Is this a IPadOS limitation? I am able to connect to iPhone 12 but that has lightening connector and runs iOS software.

Thank you.

Hey there, Moremare.

It appears that you're not able to use your USB microphone with your iPad Pro. To confirm, is the microphone not working in multiple apps that accept an external microphone? Rode website states you can try their "RØDE Reporter App, GarageBand, r any other recording app that accepts an external microphone." You can read more about that here: RØDE Microphones - NT-USB We're wondering because if the issue is only happening in one app, the issue might only be with that app and not with your iPad Pro or the microphone.

Their website also mentions this as well, which you'll want to make sure you meet this requirement to use your microphone with your iPad Pro: "Use on the Apple iPad requires a suitable USB connection adaptor, such as the Apple Camera Connection Kit"

Additional steps you can also take include making sure your iPad Pro is backed up and fully updated, along with seeing if a restart helps. It may seem like a simple step, but it can sometimes resolve issues:

Take care.

Hello, chiming in because I’m experiencing the same issue with the RODE NT-USB when connected to my brand new 4th generation iPad pro through the apple usb-c to USB adapter. Brand new adapter too, mic is less than a year old. When plugged in, it powers the mic, and I can hear myself, but device doesn’t recognize the mic otherwise, using internal mic for recording and audio output. I’m really bummed and I’m desperate for a fix! All this brand new equipment that this VO guy can’t use:( Mic works fine with my MacBook, by the way. Help?
