My MacBook Air says its disk is full but it's not!

My MacBook Air 2020 says the 500 GB disk is almost full although I figure I should have about 300 GB left. About this Mac > Storage > Manage show that one folder is supposed to weigh over 300 GB when its components hardly make up 5 GB.

Any idea what the problem might be?

Storage use getting worse after deleting files. I think it's time to buy a new Mac :) but before I do I'd like to try and make my Old Faithful 2013 model get back some of its mojo. My problem: Macintosh HD shows 1 TB size, 170 GB available, 820 GB used. The odd part is yesterday I spent hours deleting old files that should have totaled over 300GB. I then emptied the trash, but instead of showing more available space the "Get Info" now shows even less available space. Any thoughts as to why or what I can do?

1TB INTERNAL DRIVE BUT ONLY 89 GB left to use Can someone help with an Issue please. I have a 2014 15in macbook pro, and all of a sudden after deleting some big movies and emptying the bin, my drive seem full even though the files have gone from the bin. I usually have about 760 GB available most of the time. Now my 1TB drive is showing 89gb available, the disk utility is showing 2 drives now I only remember having one, and the second drive states 770.9 GB (681.81 GB purgeable) Would love some advice, I'm not overly computer savvy, Thanks
