Messages not working on 11.2.3

I updated to 11.2.3 today on my iMac. Now my icon for Message was missing in my dock. I was able to replace it but noticed that the Message app did not update and it was still the old one. And it doesn't work. I receive a message on my iPhone but now it does not show on Messages on my Mac. What's the latest version and how do I get it?

Good thread. I already tried all that. Even the Apple tech guided me there. Still not working. I turned the forwarding AND the iCloud messages enabling off and on again and tried to sync. Perhaps there is a lag time till all this connects. We'll see. Not happy.
