5 Device iCloud Limit:
You can only have up to 5 computers associated to your Apple Account at once. So, that may be what is going on here. If so, then sign out of iCloud on one of them. Next, sign in to iCloud on this device, seeing if all is successful.
Go to System Preferences and at the top of the window you can sign in to iCloud. Then it will automatically be added to your iCloud device list :D
5 Device iCloud Limit:
That is not correct. The limit is actually 10 devices (5 computers) and is applicable for purchases.

when you first sign into your iCloud account on that new iMac, it will be added automatically.
That is incorrect.
The limit is 5 computes for purchases.
Up to 10 devices total for purchases.
