Google maps will only show my current location from any search

When I am using Safari to find a city or place and then tap on the map that comes up my iPhone goes to my current location and not the place I wanted to see. If I type a place in my Google maps app it goes only to my current location. I just updated phone

Google Maps is not an Apple product. Contact the app developer here --> App Support or Google Maps Help - Google Support
