My 2020 macbook Pro is bricked beyond my understanding and Apple wont help because it thinks my serial code is invalid.

A week ago i had a disc failure to a degree that i spent hours and hours trying to factory reset the device by reinstalling the Mac OS.

I looked for my macintosh HD disc but it didnt exist. All that was there avalible in storagewise was Macintosh hd data.

So i changed that file and turned that into the os.

This worked and ran fast and fine for while i used it then. But however now my mac no longer will turn on.

Not "oh whats this weird error loading screen"

But completely unresponsive after a full day of charging attempting to turn it on is futile.

And now i dont understand if there even is anything in my power to do other then get a repair.

But that requires the serial number. Of which its saying the one on the barcode is invalid.

What do i do?? I need this for music production in college!

What caused part of the storage to drop offline is another discussion, whether that was a corruption, a (partial) storage hardware failure, or had some other trigger. Re-partitioning is an oft-popular way to corrupt a configuration, and errors and corruptions there are best assumed to clobber everything.

As for the serial number, that’s usually included on the packaging, and on the purchase-related receipts and/or purchase email messages, can probably be dug out of the backups, and the internal serial number will be available when the Mac is rebooted, or once the Mac is repaired and rebooted.

I dont know how i can use apple converter if i cant pull up any software on my computer.
Is that a piece of hardware i have to have?

I’m here assuming this is a MacBook Pro with Apple silicon M1, and not a MacBook Pro with Intel processor, that assumption based on your reported problems with the recovery sequence you were using. This as the MacBook Pro 13” 2020 was available with either M1 or Intel processors.

Here again are the links relevant to recovery, and to erasing internal storage, and you will need another Mac to recover an Apple silicon M1 Mac. With a bricked Mac with Apple silicon M1 processor, start here for recovery:
