Your serial number is printed on the bottom of your notebook computer—turn it over...

Stuck on a black screen like you are fully booted... does the caps lock respond(?)

You can always force a shutdown holding the power button/touchID for ~6-10sec. reboot as normal and test

If your Mac starts up to a blank screen (white, black, gray, or blue)

Find the serial number of your Apple product

If you don’t have your Mac or it doesn’t start up, use one of these solutions instead:

  • Find the serial number printed on the underside of your Mac, near the regulatory markings. It’s also on the original packaging, next to a barcode label. You can then enter that serial number on the Check Coverage page to find your model.
