How do I connect my Akai Mpk261 to my Macbook Pro?

My Akai Mpk261 works fine with my IMac. But, I cant get it to work with my macbook pro. Do I need to install software to use it? I got the Akai like 5 years ago, so I dont remember whether I had to install software or not.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15
