itunes recovery

I'm running an HP Envy desktop. My HP's program drive C (SSD) failed and was replaced with only Windows 10 re-installed. My data drive D (separate hard drive) holds all of my itunes files and music and seems to be OK but my itunes icon disappeared from my desktop. I have an external backup drive that was up to date when the SSD failed. The itune files now look the same on the old data drive (D) and the backup. I cannot see any itunes related files on the backup for the program drive (C) so I believe all the itunes related material was on the data drive D). However, I cannot launch itunes without the itunes icon. Do I need to download a new Itunes or can I still work with what I have? I am unsure and nervous about the best way forward as I have a substantial library of digitized vinyl that I don't want to mess up?

Install iTunes. Press and hold down shift as you launch iTunes to open or create a library on a new path. Browse to and open the iTunes Library.itl file that should be in the D: drive if things were set up correctly. If, in fact, the library files were only on the dead drive then you will want to create a new library at say D:\iTunes, then move your content inside D:\iTunes\iTunes Media and add it to the library.

When I install a new iTunes, will the new itunes library.itl file automatically replace the exiting .itl file that is in the D:drive and will I see an itunes icon on my desktop? Will opening itunes from the icon then allow me to see my content or will I still need to create a new library? Also, will I then need to recreate play lists, album cover art, etc.? Thanks for the help!
