Magnifier opening instead of Apple Pay

iPhone 8+ 14.4.2

Apple Pay very inconsistent at opening using the double tap on the home button leading to embarrassment at tills. Often the magnifier opens instead of Apple Pay even though it’s not on the control panel.

It was on it but I removed it from there and then turned the phone completely off then back on again. Still same issue.

Has this been experienced by anyone else?

Is there any way of getting the Apple Pay from within the app (ie opened phone) as opposed to from the Lock Screen even if you still need passcode or fingerprint to confirm payment?

Make sure nothing is set for double tap

I don’t understand that graphic because I use Apple Pay every day and always double tap the home button from a closed phone

Whether you leave thumb resting on the button or not depends on whether touchID is set. If not then passcode is requested.

Another complication is if you have

Settings, Accessibility, home button, rest finger to open turned on

You may open the phone before you have the opportunity to double tap which will bring on Assistive touch.

Thanks. I saw that while researching this and I’ll need to check it out later today.

I’ve away used the double click as it seemed to me the only way to use it. I’ve switched it off now and hopefully that’ll solve it. Cheers

Yes this is what happens a lot of the time too the phone would just open.

I’ll try what sberman suggested to see if that works and update.
