ipod touch overheating 6th gen

Normally I leave it to charge overnight but have taken it off charge as the device was seriously hot to the touch. Also I've had the problem of this being a replacement after the last one had a battery they decided to try and leave the iPod! Anyone any ideas please, on how best to get this checked? Preferably without going to a major conurbation as travel isn't top of my priorities these days! Thanks in advance.

Hello PlantPete,

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities. We understand that your iPod touch is warming up and causing some concern. It can be normal for a device to warm during charging. When this happened, did you see the temperature alert on the display? More details about that alert and keeping your iPod within normal temperatures can be found here: Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures

Keep us posted.

Take care.
