My MacBook Air’s built-in camera is not working
My built-in camera is not working and I really need it for work so this is kind of urgent. The thing goes like this:
On the weekend I had to go to a friend’s house but I had a meeting from work so I took my macbook to his house. When i got there i tried for maybe 30 minutes to start up the computer but it did not respond. It was connected to the charger and the light indicated it was charging, but when I pressed the ON button nothing happened. Even tried to start it on recovery mode or safe mode but nothing. I ended up using my friend’s computer and I had the meeting there.
The next day after I came back home, the computer starts up on the first try, but it started on recovery mode, so I restarted it and logged in as normal. When I log in, i find that all my system preferences and for example the apps on my dock were all restarted and changed back to default, but all my files were there exactly as i left them. Strange but I didn’t really mind. Until I realized now my camera isn’t working. Maybe I hit the computer on the way to my friend’s the previous day? It was wrapped in my hoodie, inside my backpack so that it didn’t take damage, so I don't think that’s the reason.
On system report it says “No video capture devices were found” an it does not appear on USB. I tried NVRAM reset, SMC reset, Disk repair with first aid, sudos commands, but nothing worked. I had a software update available, so I updated in the hope it fixed the problem but it didn’t.
I would really appreciate it if someone could suggest a fix to this problem, I really need the camera!! And thank you for taking your time :)
