I have a 2018 MacBook with an external HD that had my photos app and all my photos on. I upgraded my macbook with a new larger HD and wanted to move my photos back to the macbook. After moving everything I tried to access my photos via a web browser ( so I could attach photos to my web site) and my photos app appears greyed out. I know my photos are there because I can access them via the app that is on my desktop but, just can't see them when I use the browser.

Any ideas why I can't get to my photos app through my web browser?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.2

What is the file format of your photos?

Are they JPEGs or in a different format? Not every website will accept HEIC files.

And have you been using the Media Browser? you cannot open the Photos Library directly from the Web Browser. When you try to upload a photo and the file chooser dialog opens, scroll down in the sidebar to "Media", then click "Photos" and wait. It may take a while, until the library will open and show you your albums. You cannot select the Photos library from the Pictures folder - you need the Media section.

"Joedy>desktop>Photoslibrary"

That is a risky place, if your Mac is syncing with iCloud Drive, and your Desktop and Documents folder are also syncing with iCloud. a Photos Library must not be in a folder that is syncing with iCloud.

In that case your should drag the Photos Library from your Desktop back into the Pictures folder.

You will find your Pictures folder in your user home folder - the folder with the tiny house icon.
