Want to watch tv on my iMac through Apple TV and want to know how I can watch sports on my computer...any idea how I would do this? Thank you!

Not through the Apple TV app. Try streaming services on the web.
The Sports tab (in the US and Canada) in the Apple TV app on iPhone/iPad/Apple TV box gives upcoming events, scores, and is able to link to third party streaming services from other apps. As Mac doesn’t have those dedicated apps, the Apple TV app is not able to link to external apps. Those sports channels will often require a separate subscription to view games and events.
