The flashing ? disk indicates it can't find the operating system.
The key sequence you mentioned resets the parameter RAM, also known as the CMOS, which is a battery or capacitor charged programmable computer chip on your machine. If the computer's battery or capacitor is over 4 years old, it is possible that chip no longer is registering the right information. Make sure your computer is wall powered in that event.
On the underside of the computer you will find the serial number, which you don't post here!
But you do post on the link below:
http://checkcoverage.apple.com/ and verify the age and year of your computer, to determine also the age of the onboard chip.
If it is older you may be able to get the machine to see a bootable partition holding the Option key at startup. If that does not work, you should bring your computer into an authorized service center if there is any data that you hope to retrieve from the computer.
