Error response message when adding existing podcast show onto Apple Podcast Connect

Hi there. I run a podcast and I am trying to set up distribution to Apple Podcast Connect. When on the set up, I am selecting add existing show (with RSS Feed), yet when I paste my RSS feed and press continue I get a message to say "An error has occurred. Try again later." Is anyone else having this issue? Been refreshing this for a couple of hours now. Thank you!

It's better when you have a problem to starty your own thread. I assume you are asking about the 'unknown error' message? That's a problem within Podcasts Connect and I can only suggest contacting Support: https://i1.sndcdn.com/avatars-yMkseLPFnIDdztEs-jD4RzA-original.jpg

However before you do that there are two errors you need to correct:

Your 'link' tag reads <link>http://Learn more at fndmidsouth.org</link> - this is invalid: spaces are not allowed in a URL.

And the URL of your image is https://i1.sndcdn.com/avatars-yMkseLPFnIDdztEs-jD4RzA-original.jpg - this is 499 x 499 px and way too small: the minimum size is 1400 x 1400 px.

Your feed can be subscribed to and works OK in Apple Podcasts (Mac). The W£c validator finds only insignificant problems. However there are two issues,

I downloaded one of your media files and the file name turned out to be audio-only-random.m4a.mp4 - meaning though you've listed it as an m4a file it's flagged itself as an mp4. The QuickTime player says it is indeed an AAC file (which is m4a). You need to look into this,

BBEdit shows a query in places, like this:

The upside-down query symbols may suggest an invisible character which shouldn't be there: I have no way of checking that or what it might be.

You should look into these issues and thgen try submitting again. they may have nothing to do with it (particularly as the feed can be subcribed to) and if it still fails you should contact Podcasts Support: https://itunespartner.apple.com/contact/?content_type=podcasts

Regarding the mystery characters, I've done a bit more digging and I would guess they are invisible codes for paragraph returns. Did you write the feed out yourself? or possible compose the various descriptions and paste them in? If you did this in a word processor as opposed to a plain text editor you are liable to bring over the invisible codes the word processor uses for things like carriage returns. (Some systems use two characters at this point, one to move down a line and another to go to the beginning of the line.)

If you are going to paste in text you should compose it in a plain text editor. Also, you don't want a lot of html coding in tags such as 'itunes:summary' - they won't be rendered and are liable to be displayed, which looks messy - though that wouldn't cause a rejection error. Invisible codes might.

The only significant errors I can see is that your 'itunes:season' tags must contain only a number, and that your 'links' tags don't contain a complete URL. I wouldn't have though these would cause the error you are seeing.

Your feed can be subscribed to manually in Apple Podcasts on a Mac. I can't test it in Podcasts Connect. Look at the points I've mentioned, and try again, noting the time. If it's rejected ask the people running your server whether the log for that attempt shows anything helpful - sometimes some servers don't respond properly to a request from Podcasts Connect (though I've checked it in three validators, Firefox and Terminal so it's OK in those at least.)

if it still doesn't work I can only suggest contacting Support in case it's a glitch at their in - make sure you inform them that it's been throughly tested. https://itunespartner.apple.com/contact/?content_type=podcasts

I have had this exact problem for 5 days. It's totally messed up my podcast launch. I've been in touch with support and I have only gotten this response two days ago and not replies to my asking for an update. SO frustrating.
