Music Widget Not Updating

No matter what I do, the music widget doesn’t update. It’s stuck on the song I’d listened to when I first added the widget that I haven’t listened to in a whole. I tried all sizes of the widget; I tried deleting the widget; I tried deleting the widget and turning off my phone; ... someone even mentioned they tried switching on “use listening history” and that fixed it, but that option doesn’t even exist on my phone! Is there anything I can do to make this work? Thanks in advance for the help!
