iPhone iCloud mailbox help

Hi there

Hope some can help me please.

Recently moved all my emails along with their folders/ sub folders over to iCloud mailbox on my iMac.

Seen this now also shows up on my iPhone which is really handy for work.

The only problem is on my iPhone the folders/ subfolders don’t close down as on my IMac?

So on my iPhone instead of having a list of 17 main folders open as with the IMac I now have the whole contents of all these folders (1000’s of emails) listed ! Which makes it a nightmare to navigate.

Thanks Sy

Hi SyThai,

Thanks for the additional info and attaching those pictures! That helps to provide more context on what you're referring to.

So it looks like you're just comparing the appearance of the Mail application on a Mac, to the Mail application on an iPhone. While Mac and iPhone software does look quite similar in many ways, they still run completely different operating systems so not all options and layouts will be universal.

In your case, the layout you're referring to in the Mail app on your iPhone is just the way the iOS software is currently designed. The Mail app in iOS does not have the collapsing sub-folders like the Mail app on a Mac. It's not an actual problem, just differences in the design of the two different operating systems.

We can definitely understand how the less cluttered appearance in the Mac Mail app offers a better workflow when you have large amounts of sub-folders. Apple does offer a feedback page where you can submit suggestions for future software and hardware they may release. You may want to provide suggestions there for changes to the iOS Mail app layout. Here's their feedback link: Product Feedback

We hope this helps. Take care!

Hi SyThai,

We understand you'd like to change the view in your Mail app to see each individual account. We're happy to help.

To view all of the email accounts you have set up and their corresponding folders, just tap on the < Mailboxes option at the top left. This will take you back to the main page where you can view all of the accounts you have set up and their folders.

We hope this helps. Cheers!

Hi chris_g1

Thanks for your reply, not easiest for me to explain! I'm ok with viewing each individual account in mail app.

  • Problem is when I open up my 'iCloud mailbox (on iPhone)'

  • After all the standard folders e.g 'inbox, drafts, sent, junk, bin, archive' I have my own folders set up.....

  • My own folders also have sub folders within them which are normally close when on my iMac desk top.

  • When on my iPhone all these folders and sub folders are fully opened up showing every email, cant find a way of keeping closed until selected.

This is iMac view.... Contracts folder is closed until I select it

This is iPhone view... Contracts folder is permanently open and all its subfolders/ contents within

Thanks Simon
