IPad Air 4 and SD Card Reader - Not working or recognizing?

I have a brand new iPad Air 4 and just got a certified Apple USB-C to SD Card reader. However, no matter what I do my Air will not recognize the SD reader. This is super frustrating and I haven’t been able to find a concrete help topic on it. Has anyone else troubleshooted this issue? Does the SD reader just not work with the Air? It doesn’t mention that it’s not compatible on the site or anything. This is super disappointing.

Disconnect the adapter.

Try a "forced" restart of your iPad, using these instructions:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top (power) button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 20-40 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear).

Reconnect the adapter.

If the issue persists, it might be a defective adapter. If it is an Apple Adapter, make an appointment at an Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider , demonstrate that the adapter doesn't work with your iPad, and it will be replaced.

Regards

Giulio
