My iMovie is not updating to the latest version

My iMovie is not updating to the latest version

- everything else is updating and works perfect.

I am using MacOS Catalina Version 10.15.7 (19H15).


My present version of iMovie - 10.1.13


I get the message "This update is not available for this appleID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled"

What could i have possibly done wrong - Please advice

Try this procedure: To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar.   You will see your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash and return it to the Applications folder.


Also, is it possible that when you downloaded your present version of iMovie 10 you were using a different Apple I.D? Or did you buy your Mac used with iMovie already on it?
