Can you share AirTags with family members?

Can two accounts track the same airtag? Can me and my wife track the same airtag if we are in the same family account?

I can understand some people not wanting other members of their family to see their tags (I don't know why but I'm sure some would) but I do think having the ability to allow them to be selectively shared would be very useful. We got one to put on our dog's collar so if he got out or ran off while out we could track him - but only I can see that tag which makes it useless for what we wanted. Also sharing a tag could disable the tracking warnings - although that might need the other person to accept the sharing as a backup

We purchased 4 of these for the main purpose of tagging our two dogs. The problem we encountered was that each of us can only track one dog even though we share iCloud accounts with the family sharing on. One huge frustration is that when I travel internationally and my wife is home with the two dogs and the one with the tag I can track gets out. What am I supposed to do have her call me and try and get directions as if that would even work. Apple really needs to rethink the implementation. Our only choice is to have two tags on each dog which is ridiculous but a real money maker for Apple.

I have done that. I have also heard that that a lot of those posts do not get read.

It's the posts here that don't get read by Apple. The feedback posts do get read.. However, Apple explicitly states that they don't answer them. Also, just because you requested something, doesn't mean Apple is going to change their minds.

So only one parent can track a child? Or I have to double tag my kids for us both to be able to find them in the event of an emergency? The user who initially set up the AirTag should have the ability to grant or revoke access to viewing AirTag location. I wonder what the hold up is

I just bought two aritags for our two cars, mine and my wife's. We both use both cars and were hoping to use the airtag to save time finding the keys around the house. I want to be able to share the airtag with my family, otherwise it is half as useful as I thought.

We added a tag to our dogs collar to help track in case she wanders off. When I took a recent golf trip with my buddies the tag chimed the whole time I was gone annoying everyone in the house. I really think there needs to be a way to share these tags amongst family…I get the potential for stalking issues, but for the rest of us this really limits the use case for the tags.

They won't allow this basic and obvious feature, but at least I get to read about 1 or 2 stories a day on Apple News about how Air Tags are being used in crime sprees across the US and used to track, assault, and sexually exploit women. The "privacy" argument at this point is a joke and a complete non sequitur. I swear Apple get more clueless every single year.

The inability to silence family members airtags actually NEGATES the whole notification system rendering it useless due to overwhelming false positives with ZERO way to tell if a notification is just another false positive or someone actually slipping an Airtag into your world.
