Macbook losing ethernet connection over usb c hub

My 2017 Macbook is connected to my enterprise network by wireless and wired ethernet via a 3rd party USB C hub. My wired connection is set to take priority over wireless in Network Preferences due to better data rates. Randomly I notice that I lose network connectivity ONLY on the wired connection. When I go to check it in Network Preferences it still shows me I have a valid IP, however I know this isn't true as when this happens I can no longer ping my Mac's IP from another device on the network and once I request a new DHCP lease it returns an invalid IP address (169.254.x.x). The especially frustrating part is it's NOT failing over to wireless which maintains it network connection (as I can ping that IP) when the wired connection goes down.

The only ways to resolve it are to unplug the USB C hub from my Macbook, or disconnect and reconnect the ethernet cable, or wait 5 - 10 minutes for it to resolve itself.

Any suggestions here? I've already tried a new USB C hub and this is the only device on the network this happens to.

Did you try a different brand of USB hub?

How about testing it with a simple USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. As soon as you add a more complex device you can introduce more problems. Definitely try disconnecting all external devices from the hub except for the Ethernet cable.

Have you also tried using another USB-C port especially on the other side of the laptop if you have four ports?
