Anybody else having problems with PubMed or certain other NIH web resources?

I am trying to access PubMed, but Safari can’t find the site (see below). PubMed is hosted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is a search engine and database for medical academic literature and journal publications.

I had this issue a few weeks ago and fixed it by replacing my ISP’s DNS addresses with those of OpenDNS on my router. My computer gets its IP address from the router’s DHCP server.

A Google search for “can’t access pubmed” uncovers others from around the world, not only macOS users, who have the same issue. I am trying to get to the bottom of it. With the political debate about the proper COVID response ongoing, easy access to PubMed for the inquisitive layperson is more important than ever.

Well, I'm not having any issues (at the time of this posting) accessing PubMed from the US. I'm using my ISP DNS - which, really, I should change.

PubMed is announcing that they will be offline for maintenance on 04/24/2021. So, this shouldn't be your issue.

Are you using any VPN? If so, turn them off and see if the issue vanishes.
