Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities Broozer79,

We see that you're getting an error message when trying to restore your MacBook Air. We'd be happy to help.

Since we are not sure if you're using a Mac with an M1 chip or not, we are providing information for both intel-based and M1 chip computers. We'd like to have you attempt to use which ever article pertains to your computer, and try to use macOS Recovery.

Use macOS Recovery on a Mac with Apple silicon

Use macOS Recovery on an Intel-based Mac

Let us know if you continue to see the same error or any thing different.
