iphone XR suddenly not opening Files properly, certain files just not lodibg

Using the Files app to try and open recently downloaded and marked up files, and they just will not load in the folder. Says it has 7 items but just stays blank.

and when trying to email the file to myself as a work around, using Outlook mail app, when you go to browse to find the file, nothing happens when you click on On My iPhone or Downloaded, it just never opens the next page. Has only been happening since mid week. No idea how to fix or should I be scanning for a virus or something somehow? Any help/advice much appreciated.

Hello Clairbear85,

It sounds like you are unable to access your files in the Files app on your iPhone.

Here's a resource that might help. Review Use the Files app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and check your network.

Does this happen when connected to Wi-Fi, cellular or both?
If using cellular, note: If you want to upload, download, or share files using cellular data, open Settings, select Cellular, scroll down to iCloud Drive and any third-party cloud services you use, and turn it on for each service.
As it relates to network, do you have a VPN or security software? Does temporarily removing it help?
