How can I fix the issue of Messages appearing on iPhone but not MacBook Air or the reverse? This is a new issue. Previously, I received messages on both almost simultaneously. Is the issue related to a recent update?

Verify in Messages' preferences that you have, @ iMessage, "Enable Messages in iCloud," selected.
I've done all of this, but nothing changed. It's not so much a delay, but that some messages appear on my iPhone XR, but never appear on my MacBook Air, which is a 2020 model with Mac OS Big Sur.
Yes, I have "Enable Messages in iCloud checked, and have synced several times, but the missing messages don't appear.
