Transfering photos from old MacBook Pro to new MacBook Air

My old MacBook Pro's screen stays black when it turns on- I have a new MacBook Air and wanting to transfer photos from old computer to new. I don't know how to retrieve photos from old to new so do I have to go visit Apple store in person and let them do this for me? I also have to say, the problem with my old computer is that it looks like it's bulged out and maybe the battery blew up??? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

You could connect the MacBook to an external monitor (if it’s only a screen issue) and navigate through the settings and backup the MacBook. If you don’t have enough storage on the iCloud you could also copy the pictures to a hard drive. If it’s a battery issue I would suggest taking it to the Apple Store and letting them do it. If the battery issue is not as severe you could connect it to the charger and continue to use it on the external monitor if the screen is damaged.
