iMac is rendering my external back up disks unusable.

I don't know why, but I have three back up disks that inaccessible. I think the main computer thinks they are intruders and or "corrupters." One disk was visible and files could be copied but not added or arranged. I backed it up, erased and re-copied files back in. Another disk, a Time Machine disk: "Unable to modify a FileVault context." So what do I do with this? The latest disk, now shows up as a "Remote Disk" and running First Aid: "First Aid process has failed. If possible back up the data on this volume. Click Done to continue." Something is going on with this computer that is shutting down my backup drives. I'm afraid to mount any drive on it. I recently had the "Gray Window" syndrome and had completely erased the computer and manually loaded only Adobe apps and select files. FireVault and Firewall are turned off. Help!

iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…

Whew, they've changed pastebin & made it harder, but after pasting in, click Create new paste button, then Embed button, then copy the URL...

<script src="https://pastebin.com/embed_js/KuvnghqA"></script>

The important part of the above is...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...
