http://www.macsales.com/ is one of my favorite brands for DVD players and burners. Keep in mind Apple no longer uses the larger USB 3.0 ports. This will mean you need a powered hub that will need to support the external adapting from USB-3 to 3.1 unless you get a 3.1 compatible player.
Yep, and I'm uncertain how that will be powered.
With a MacBook Pro, I know there is a passthrough on its USB-C power cord and many USB-C adapters. Hopefully the power being AC to the iMac will be sufficient to power through the USB-C adapter.
I would look for one that has its own power supply; I've got one from macsales.com - a tray loading drive which reads every disk I've encountered and it's a tray loading device which is more reliable than the slot loading drives.
The Apple USB SuperDrive is what I'd normally go for -- just unsure if it will work with the ports in the new iMac.
Time will tell -- by this time next month people will start posting if it works -- or doesn't.
My current iMac dates to 2011 and I just shove CDs/DVDs into the side slot on the right side ... it also has a little SD slot that I've never used.
I can't look back; have been waiting too long for this update!
Hi A_001,
Apple sells, in my opinion, the very best CD/DVD drive: Apple USB SuperDrive - Apple.
Cheers,
Jack
Thank you.
This sounds good to me -- though it sounds like I will need a USB-C to USB adapter, if I'm understanding the ad.
Thank you.
