"Screenshot" key strokes?

Is it possible to assign a function key to the "Screenshot" key strokes?

Screenshot directions The web site states to use command-shift-3 for screenshots. The pulldown help menu states to use command-shift-5. Using 5 allows you to take a shot of only part of the screen. But using 5 also leaves a white box outline on the screen that can only be removed by restart. Is this a bug or are the pulldown directions out of date?

not being able to take a screenshot Hi, it has been a few weeks that I have not been able to take a screenshot. no matter what combination of keys I use It does't work. all of the keys work perfectly fine when used in other occasions so the problem isn't that the keys aren't working. I would appreciate it if someone helped me.

How to bind "take screenshot" to hardware button? I have a Xencelabs device that attaches by USB to my Mac and lets me bind applications and key presses to its hardware buttons. I want one of the buttons to take a screenshot. But when I press the key combo that takes a screenshot, I get the screenshot and the device never sees the button press (looks like the OS pre-empts it because it's defined in the System Preferences). Is there an application I can make or download that would just be an app (not sitting in Menubar or Dock) that I can bind to the button, instead of using the built-in keyboard combo?
