Power Mac G5 not reading hard drives.

I have a Power Mac G5 that won’t read hard drives. The drives are good. They run fine in another Power Mac G5 of the exact same type and processors. Any ideas of where to start? It will boot off a Leopard install disc. When I go into Disc Utility the drives won’t show there either, but like I said the drives work perfectly fine in another machine.

2009 Mac Pro doesn't read internal hard drives (USB drives OK) My 2009 Mac Pro stopped recognizing any of the internal hard drives. I've tried several hard drives, with different versions of OS X from that galaxy one to El Capitan, in each of the bays. The computer works fine from an external hard drive plugged into a USB port (but slow, USB 2.0 is 480 Mbps when the internals bays are 5 Gbps). Is there any way to fix this or do I buy a replacement machine on eBay for $200?

os 10.12 no longer sees a TB drive that has been loaded with os 12.0.1 loaded Monterey 12.0.1 onto a Lacie TB SSD drive which WAS working with my main Mac Pro OS of 10.12. Wanted to update the os for newer programs while maintaining my legacy system apps in 10.12. Made the Lacie a boot drive by changing the startup drive to the Lacie and downloading and installing the Monterey-which is functioning at this point. All worked well until I tried to restart Mac using the Lacie TB drive as the startup drive after switching the bootup back to the 10.12 os. The Lacie is not recognized on the desktop in os10.12.

Mac doesn’t recognize ANY external drives after update I’ve read many posts here and elsewhere about external hard drives not showing up after updates, but the answers don’t help me. Updated to Monterey 12.6.6 and now no external drive (HDs, thumb drives, CDs) will show up in the finder and in Disk Utility the only drive that will show itself is my internal startup drive. There is no opportunity to mount a greyed out one as suggested by the answers here. I have plugged my CD player and thumb drives into a PC laptop and they show that it isn’t the fault of the drives. Plus four drives don’t go bad all at once. Appreciate any help. Mac Pro (late 2013) Intel Xeon

What macOS version?

First, make sure the drives are not hidden by the Finder's default settign if you just reinstelled an operating system. Make certain "Finder" shows in the upper left corner and select Finder preferences:

When those display, check all the boxes I've highlighted with the red box if they are not checked:

If that changes nothing, my next suspect is HD cabling. If that is not the issue then I suspect the logic board and that is not good.
