Wireless Mouse Cursor Sticks/Lags

When I have my wireless mouse connected to my Mac, sometimes moving the mouse cursor is problematic. I will move the mouse and it will kind of lag or fall behind where I am trying to move to or click. This doesn't happen all of the time. Just some of the time. This only happens when I connect my Mac to my external monitor.

Here's my setup:

Wireless USB receiver (not Bluetooth)

Logitech K235 (mouse + keyboard combo)

MacBook Air M1 2020

macOS 11.2.2

23" Dell monitor (S2340L)

Please help!

Hi echoda,

Thanks for posting! As we understand it, your mouse is intermittently lagging when you use your Mac with an external display. We're happy to see how we can assist with this.

To narrow this down, do you happen to have another mouse available for testing? If so, are you able to replicate the issue with another mouse, or does this only happen with the Logitech mouse?

Also, we recommend see if you can replicate this in a newly-created administrator account. Knowing whether the issue occurs there will help in determining if the issue might be user-account specific, or if it's system-wide. See this link for the steps to Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Let us know how it goes.

Take care.

Hi Ryan - Thank you for your reply. I tried it with another mouse (also a Logitech) and I have the same problem. My other wireless mouse also uses a USB receiver.

I will try a newly-created administrator account later today and post what happens.

I am using the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. It's old and frayed. I'm not sure if that would cause the problem.
