Macbook locked. Possible ransomware?

Hello,

I am being asked to enter a code when booting the laptop, with the message [This laptop doesn't meet Invoice2go policies. Please contact workplaceops@invoice2go.com for assistance. Thanks].

I am not aware of this invoice2go policy or app, I haven't installed anything like that on my laptop.

The laptop gets locked after failing to enter the code.

I haven't communicated with the email yet, I just want to double check if this could be some sort of ransomware.

If its a case of ransomware, will formatting the Macbook remove the ransomware?

It is possible Invoice2Go accidentally enrolled your serial number in their Device Enrollment Program (DEP). It is now being managed by Invoice 2Go. You would need to contact them to have it removed from their control.
