iPad Pro 4th generation not charging Apple magic keyboard

I have an iPad Pro 4th generation that will not even charge an Apple magic keyboard for a second. After the keyboard is plugged into USB-C for even a couple hours, it fails to register the moment the power is cut from the keyboard.

Is the battery on the keyboard replaceable by users?

Is the keyboard supposed to be able to work with no power attached to either iPad or keyboard?

Because at this point it doesn't work unless the keyboard is powered directly.

Mind you when I charge the keyboard, the battery icon on the iPad shows charging, and does charge the iPad.

And the keyboard backlight lights for a few seconds before it stops being lit.

What Magic Keyboard are you referring to?

If it is an old model, see this support article:--> Recharge the built-in battery in your Apple keyboard, mouse, or trackpad - Apple Support

Perhaps its battery is exhausted, and no, no way to replace it by yourself.

The new Magic Keyboard model is able to work with no power attached (it uses the smart connector on the back cover of some iPad Pros and iPad Air 4th gen)
