password reset option doesn't show when trying to reset my iMac user password (which I forgot)

Try this:

  1. Turn off the Mac.
  2. Turn it on, holding Command + R.
  3. Select Utilities > Terminal.
  4. Type resetpassword
  5. Follow the steps.
