when will itunes support for syncing contacts and calendars be deprecated and why?

I got a message when logged onto itunes this morning stating support for syncing contacts and calendars has been deprecated and will be removed from future versions of itunes. A couple of questions arise from this

  1. Why has this been done ?
  2. How will I sync my PC calander and contacts to my iphone / ipad in the future
  3. What version of itunes will it be removed from as I won't be keen to upgrade to it.

Windows, Windows 10

  1. We're not supposed to speculate but perhaps to pave the way for iTunes on Windows to be broken up as it has been on Mac.
  2. As noted, you can Download iCloud for Windows - Apple Support.
  3. Not clear, it could be the next one, or there might be a major shift with the next round of hardware releases whenever that is.

tt2 mentioned something about breaking up iTunes like they did for the Mac. I think Apple has a utility on the Mac called "Find". I think that synchs calendars and contacts. Hopefully, they provide a utility like that for Windows/Outook users that synchs. But as of now, they seem to be pushing iCloud for Windows.

I did find 2 programs that are available for purchase: Akrutosync and Sync2cloud. I haven't tried either of them.

I have the same setup with Outlook. I use MS Office Professional on my PC. I don't have an outlook.com email address. I use Outlook for calendar and contacts and need to continue to synch those two from my desktop licensed MS Outlook to my Apple devices. I don't want to use cloud anything. I like local backups I can control.

APPLE: Please, at least keep the iTunes synch calendars and contacts working. Don't ditch the whole thing.

Any ideas on how to continue to sync calendars and contacts after the "depreciation."

Thanks.

I fully agree with Bethe01. Putting my private information “in the cloud” simply means putting it on someone else’s computer — where it can be read and hacked by others. I want a direct wire connection between my PC’s Outlook and my devices. I read how Apple deconstructed the one-stop iTunes for Mac into several different apps. I’m appalled by their inability to keep things simple and secure.
