when will itunes support for syncing contacts and calendars be deprecated and why?

I got a message when logged onto itunes this morning stating support for syncing contacts and calendars has been deprecated and will be removed from future versions of itunes. A couple of questions arise from this

Why has this been done ?
How will I sync my PC calander and contacts to my iphone / ipad in the future
What version of itunes will it be removed from as I won't be keen to upgrade to it.

We're not supposed to speculate but perhaps to pave the way for iTunes on Windows to be broken up as it has been on Mac.
As noted, you can Download iCloud for Windows - Apple Support.
Not clear, it could be the next one, or there might be a major shift with the next round of hardware releases whenever that is.

I don't want to use iCloud. I want NONE of my data in the cloud. It gets hacked and nobody, not even Apple can prevent it. I want local control of my backups.

Thanks. Apple is making a simple process so much more complicated. Now we'll have yet another 3rd party app with which to contend! :(

I heard that syncable maximum item by icloud is 5000.

If i have over 5000 calendar and contacts, how can i sync my PC outlook to my iphone via iCloud?
