when will itunes support for syncing contacts and calendars be deprecated and why?

I got a message when logged onto itunes this morning stating support for syncing contacts and calendars has been deprecated and will be removed from future versions of itunes. A couple of questions arise from this

  1. Why has this been done ?
  2. How will I sync my PC calander and contacts to my iphone / ipad in the future
  3. What version of itunes will it be removed from as I won't be keen to upgrade to it.

Windows, Windows 10

  1. We're not supposed to speculate but perhaps to pave the way for iTunes on Windows to be broken up as it has been on Mac.
  2. As noted, you can Download iCloud for Windows - Apple Support.
  3. Not clear, it could be the next one, or there might be a major shift with the next round of hardware releases whenever that is.
