I tried holding down shift, alt, control then power off waited 10 seconds and it still will not charge. I have it plugged in and shows no battery life and the plug sign.
if I unplug the charger it shuts off completely. Please, Any suggestions.

If you have an Intel Mac, then the SMC Reset is performed slightly different if you have a 2018+ laptop with a T2 security chip (different Shift key and timings):
