Discontinuation of iTunes syncing with Outlook

This warning message would suggest that Apple plan to remove calendar and contact syncing over USB as a feature from iTunes in a future version.

They do provide an alternative syncing mechanism through iCloud for Windows - Apple Support.

If you're not comfortable using cloud syncing for whatever reason then the alternative approach is not to upgrade iTunes for as long as that remains viable.

I really didn't want to have to do it, but if this is the case and I have to sync to the cloud, I'll be getting rid of my iPhone and getting an Android. Pity - I've enjoyed my iPhones since 2009, and really didn't want to switch. If I'm syncing to the cloud, might as well use google.
