why AirPods pro connect to iPhone but is a hassle connecting to desktop mac

I have no problem connecting and using the AirPods Pro but I encounter severe problems that I can not unravel when I trie to connect to my desktop Mac pro using latest version of Big Sur ver 13.0 just updated today
