Changing emoji skin tones

How do I change the skin tone of the emojis on the mini-screen bar on top of the keyboard on my new MacBook? Holding down on the emoji doesn’t bring up a choice of colors like on the IPhone or iPad

MacBook, macOS 10.12

I accidentally clicked the wrong skin tone, so how do I change it to the correct one?

Hi Janlovesmacs,

Welcome to the Apple Community where some of us do our best to help each other.

In Safari, or some other apps,

To bring up the full choice of emoji's:

Either

Click on "Edit" in the top left menu bar, and choose "emoji's and symbols"

Or

Press these three keys at the same time: Control, Command Space-bar.

You can now scroll down to select the emoji you want, and press on it to select from the choice of skin tones, as you have done.

Your favourites, used often, will appear at the top of the small emoji window, and can be chosen in the Touch Bar on keyboard.

Hope this helps you :)
