Recently deleted apps

Sometimes my battery usage will show time spent on recently deleted apps. If I close out of battery usage and go back in, it no longer shows recently deleted apps. This happens even when I have not downloaded or deleted an app. Would adding then removing an email account or something other than a app make this show up?

Aprilb512,

Working off what JS-1987 has said, this is something we can test. If you have Automatic Updates enabled for apps, you can turn that off, then update apps manually and compare those updates with the 'Recently Deleted App' indicator.

You'll be able to adjust those settings in Settings > App Store and disabling App Updates under 'Automatic Downloads'. Here's how to install those updates manually when they are available: How to manually update apps on your Apple device

Keep us posted on what you find out.

Greetings Aprilb512,

We’re understanding you to say that you’re seeing some battery usage by an app listed as ‘Recently Deleted’, though you’ve not deleted any apps. You asked specifically if removing an email account could impact this.

Let’s work to isolate that. When you notice this behavior, are you removing an email or internet account from your device? Do you notice that it seems to correspond to any other changes?

Are we working with the latest iOS version on your iPhone? You'll be able to check for available updates in Settings > General > Software Update. If an update is available, please be sure to create a backup first.

When you update your apps, "Recently Deleted Apps" can appear in the Battery overview - you will also see it in the Data Usage menu under Cellular. When updating apps, the phone may see an old version of an app as "deleted", even though the app is still installed, but in a new version.
