Calls ring for some and not from others? iPhone 12

It's possible these numbers were unintentionally added to the block list. We recommend checking the block list next to see if they are listed there. If they are, you can tap on the name to unblock it:

Block phone numbers, contacts, and emails on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

We also suggest looking at the Do Not Disturb setting in case only some calls are being allowed:

Both my husband and I have this same problem. For example, yesterday my phone was in my pocket, ringer on loud. My doctors office called and the phone never rang. I went to check something on my phone later and the voice mail popped up with the message from the doctors office. This happens all the time to both of us. Same thing with text messages. I checked my blocked list and their number is not on it. My Do Not Disturb is off so all calls should come thru.

something is going on and we can’t figure out what the problem is. When I was at the Apple Store in Houston getting my phone screen changed, the man at the Genius Bar check all my settings with his phone and they were the same. He had not heard of our problem.
