Recent call history showing two names or numbers

once I updated my phone to the 16 I started to have problems. When I call out one person it calls two people done on FaceTime. Also my call log reads I made two phone calls when I only made one and other is random. This is not a good reason to spend a lot of money on a phone that only gives you issues that can’t be resolved. I heard Tesla is coming out with a new phone and just might take most of apple’s customers.

Hi! I just had a call with Apple support for this issue. Two things needed to be done:

1. clear out the recent call list by clicking ‘Edit’ (right top corner) then ‘Clear All.’
2. Apply the 16.0.2 update to iOS16.

This seems to have resolved this weird problem, but of course, I haven’t a clue as to for how long. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏾

Have you cleared the list and then restarted your phone? That did fix the issue for me.

Your problem is completely different than the subject of this thread. Based on that picture, you have something enabled in Settings>Accessibility, though I don' know specifically what. You'll need to poke through the settings there.

Hello Members, I downloaded IOS 16.3.1 today, from then onwards when I dial any of my contact or when I receive any call, in the call History I get 2 name , one name that was dialed and another name . The other name keeps changing if I dial the same contact again. Kindly recommend a solution. Thanks

Same problem as most people have mentioned here. Updated to 16.3.1 two days ago and now it shows multiple names when someone calls, then if I try to return a call it facetimes 2 people, one of which is random.

So, did you completely clear Recents and restart the phone?

I'm also having this problem.

by the way, I think solving this problem should have highest priority, because the original use case of a phone is making phone calls. This should be working without such bugs.

It is still not fixed (in iOS 16.3.1)

As of 6.2.23 i updated to ios 16.5 on my 12 and it’s saying my sister and boyfriend called at the exact same time, or my mom and a random number will be together in the call history. Very strange and should be fixed since it’s been a years long issue

I had the same issue. You must have saved the same contact twice. For me, i had the icloud and gmail contacts sync on at the same time which caused the duplication of the same contact. Disabling one of them solved the issue. Hope this helps 😊

Nope, that's not the reason. It was a bug that has since been resolved. The numbers were unrelated and not always even in Contacts.

I've had iCloud, Gmail and generally a work account syncing contacts to my phone for, well, forever and never had this problem before or since. The iPhone is very good at linking contacts.

Not sure its fixed. I just moved to a new iphone 12 with ios 16.1 and have this same problem

I just updated my 11 to the iOS 16.1 and have the same issue with double up random calls. I’ve deleted my call history and that didn’t fix the issue. Very frustrating!
