Lightning to HDMI not working for Netflix

Hi, Universtity accomodation wi-fi does not allow connections to AppleTV/Chromecast. Bought lightning to hdmi connector to connect ipad to tv to watch netflix and tv that way. it worked the first time i plugged it in, but since then has not worked. have tried different cables and hdmi sockets...even a hdmi splitter to bypas HDCP but noting works. Any help much appreciated. Cheers...
